and dressing them creatively in themed groups that have attracted visitors to the town for as many years.

The Amazing Race! 

Episode 8 of The Amazing Race Canada was filmed in
Mahone Bay on May 26th (aired in Sept 2013) 

The teams that were competing were:
Jet and Dave
Vanessa and Celina
Tim Sr and Tim Jr
Jody and Cory 
Host Jon Montgomery agreed that Mahone Bay was Canada’s loveliest little town as he and Festival Chair and Judge for Episode 8, Lara Carrigan watched the competitors start to arrive. Jet arrived first and hastily chose to compete in the Road Block, which required each team to use a BlackBerry Z10 with a photo of a hidden Scarecrow somewhere in town. To make matters more challenging the contestants had to run through the streets  find the scarecrow pictured on their Blackberry and bring them back to the Gazebo on Main St. where they would build an exact replica of the scarecrow. Viewers laughed as the contestants sorted through piles and piles of clothing, straw, stuffing and props in order to create their new twin scarecrows. Jet soon lost his lead to Cory, and then Tim Jr., when he could not recreate his voluptuous gypsy woman. He joked and said, "Scarecrows: how many have I built? Zero. How many women have I helped get ready for a Saturday night? Different equation." 

All of the scarecrows created by the contestants are on display during the festival.
