CONTEST RULES
● Open to anyone
● Purchase your own pumpkin(s)
● All pumpkins must be carved (with the exception of ages 10 and under category)
● Enter to win in 1 category
● Drop off and register pumpkins at the Bayview Community School Ball Field on Saturday September 30th, 2017 between 12-2pm
● Judging will take place that afternoon and winners announced that evening
● All pumpkins will be displayed at the Pumpkin Path on Saturday September 30th, 2017 between 6-9pm
● Pumpkins should be collected by their carver after 9pm on September 30th, otherwise they will be removed
● Members of the Committee reserve the right to dismiss any entries that are considered inappropriate.

Bayview School workshops

Fostering community spirit is a big part of what the scarecrow festival is all about and this was clearly evident at the pumpkin carving workshops held at Bayview, our local community school. Local suppliers, Delong Farms, Atlantic Superstore Bridgewater and Save Easy in Mahone Bay donated the pumpkins, and groups of parents and other volunteers came together and gave their time to pre gut them ready for the whole school to share in the fun.

All together over 400 children from grades P to 9 participated in the workshops, working in pairs to create a wonderful array of beautifully decorated and carved pumpkins. These fabulous creations were then all entered into the pumpkin carving contest forming a major part of the Pumpkin Path display. Their hard work and creativity was ultimately rewarded with many of the students wining the prizes that were generously donated by our local businesses. And the fun is set to continue again this year!
